Lights, Camera, Action! Take a day trip to the AMC Woodridge Movie Theatre with Natalie.  Check in at the Recreation Department to find out what movie is playing!  Fee includes at home pick-up and ticket.  We will stop for lunch at Bar Louie in Bolingbrook.

Four Winds Casino

Are you up for a fun filled day of gaming?  If you are, then hop aboard the recreation bus with Natalie for a trip to Four Winds Casino in New Buffalo Michigan.  This trip includes transportation and a lunch buffet, gaming is on your own.

Explore the area’s antique shops for that unique gift or home item you’ve been looking for.  You’ll find something that is sure to catch your eye as you browse the many specialty stores from home accessories to designer fashions. Feel the warmth of sunny Florida, and enjoy an 8-day motorcoach trip to visit the Plantation Resort on Crystal River in Florida.  Visit Marjorie Rawlings Historic State Park, stay on the Crystal River and ride a boat into manatee country and the Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge.  Visit Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park and Tarpon Springs.  Visit the Greek community and enjoy the Sponge Factory.  The farewell dinner offers a show at the Derby Dinner Playhouse featuring great entertainment.

The Lake Erie’s Fantasy Island

The Lake Erie’s Fantasy Island trip begins in Shipshewana, the heart of Indiana’s Amish Country.  From there, we will take a ferryboat to Put-In-Bay, one of Lake Erie’s “Fantasy Islands.” There will be a guided tram tour of the island with stops at Crystal Cave and Heineman Winery to witness the art of winemaking.  There will also be a viewing of the Perry Victory and International memorial, commemorating Commander Perry’s naval victory.  Lastly, we will take a tour at the W.K. Kellogg Manor House.  It is newly restored with leaded glass windows, hand-carved oak woodwork, and beautiful tile work.

Noah’s Ark Encounter

Nestled in the Indiana Heartland is Belterra Casino Resort & Spa where we spend two nights in this oasis of luxury with buffet meals and non-stop action in its exciting casino. At the Sisters of St. Francis Oldenburg we take a guided tour of the convent. Learn about everyday convent life and hear the sisters’ impact on the community. The highlight of the day is the new Ark Encounter. This full-sized, all wood replica of Noah’s Ark presents a number of historical events centered on this one-of-a-kind historically themed attraction. It is designed to be family oriented, historically authentic and is the largest timber frame structure in the country. Before returning home, we visit the Creation Museum, a state-of- the-art museum which brings the pages of the Bible to life through the retelling of its stories.

Frankenmuth Oktoberfest

We begin this trip at the Kalamazoo Air Zoo, one of the country’s premier aviation attractions where interactive displays help to understand the history of flight.  Continue to Michigan’s Little Bavaria - Frankenmuth.  Enjoy a German dinner with live music. A guided tour of the village includes a visit to St. Lorenz Church and a stop at Bronner’s Christmas Store.  There is also a strudel making experience and wine sampling before our family-style chicken dinner.  Attend the Oktoberfest celebration filled with the sights and sounds reminiscent of the world-famous festival in Munich, Germany.  In Michigan’s state capital, Lansing, we enjoy a lunch cruise aboard the Michigan Princess complete with live entertainment and beautiful scenery as we sail along the Grand River.
