White Fence Farm is a Romeoville land mark, having been in its current location for 64 years. It’s a historic landmark on Route 66 and is a sprawling building filled with mementoes of days gone by like classic cars, typewriters, and hand operated washing machines. The entire place is covered in custom carpet, made in England, that is embroidered with their logo. How many restaurants can say any of the above?
“Generations of families have celebrated big life events at White Fence Farm,” pointed out Mayor John Noak, “and generations more will be able to continue that tradition.”
You may have seen an article recently about another White Fence Farm that is closing. This business is located a thousand miles away (997 miles to be exact) in Lakewood, Colorado. While the Colorado restaurant shares the White Fence Farm name, it is not a franchise of original Romeoville location.
“I am the third generation Hastert active in the business,” said current Romeoville owner Laura Hastert. “Our hard working and wonderful managers and I have worked very hard to keep this institution alive.” They have no plans of closing any time soon.
Their 1,100 seats regularly fill to capacity on holidays and this pattern shows no sign of slowing down. If you thought the Colorado article was about the Romeoville location and it gave you pause, show the Hasterts how much they mean to you and grab some dinner there this week. The main restaurant is open Tuesday - Friday from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m., Saturday from 4 p.m. - 9 p.m., and Sunday from Noon - 8 p.m.. Do you want your chicken on the run? You can get that same White Fence Farm quality at their carryout locations in Downers Grove, Joliet, Plainfield, Riverside, and behind the main restaurant in Romeoville. All carryout locations are open from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday – Friday and noon – 8 p.m. on weekends.
