The Village of Romeoville recently received an improved Public Protection Classification (PPC) rating from the Insurance Services Organization (ISO), which could mean property insurance savings for home and business owners.
The new rating follows an inspection of the fire suppression delivery system in the village. ISO, an independent company that serves insurance companies, communities, fire departments and insurance regulators, analyzes data from the evaluation using its Fire Suppression Rating Schedule. The company then assigns a Public Protection Classification (PPC) program number to the community based on that analysis.
The ISO PPC rating scale ranges from 1-10, the lower the rating the better the score is. This year Romeoville improved from a 4 to a 3. “The Romeoville Fire Department continues to be a source of pride in our community, we also greatly appreciate the partnership with the Lockport Township Fire Protection District,” said Mayor John Noak. “We continue to make enhancements with the hope of reducing the community’s rating even further.” Most insurers use PPC information as part of their decision making process when deciding what coverages to offer or prices to charge for personal or commercial property insurance.
