The Pizutti Companies have announced plans for a new 646,380 square foot built-to-suit building in Romeoville that will be home to a new Crate and Barrel fulfillment facility. The building, which will also contain 15,000 square feet of office space, can be expanded in the future to 815,000 square feet. This initial phase of the project represents a nearly $75 million investment in Romeoville and could increase with future expansion.

“This is the type of project that reinforces what we’ve been saying: Romeoville is a great place to do business, especially for multichannel retailers,” stated Romeoville Mayor John Noak. “This means more jobs, more tax revenue to the schools, and bringing a top tier company to Romeoville. We’re very excited to have Crate and Barrel be a part of our success.” Romeoville was chosen ahead of multiple sites after a three-state search.

“Crate and Barrel is growing, especially our furniture business,” said Tim Stover, Crate and Barrel’s SVP of Supply Chain. “With nearly 50% of our sales online, our new, state-of-the-art facility and expansion into Romeoville is an exciting build upon Crate and Barrel’s fulfillment operations, and showcases our mission to continuously provide great service and quality products for our customers.”

The 80-acre property is located along Taylor Road in the 900-acre Pinnacle Business Center, which is also home to Wilton Industries, Samsung Electronics, Pactiv, Florstar, Amerisource Bergen, and Fed Ex, among others.

“In today’s distribution market, large-scale clients require sophisticated spaces that provide high-impact solutions to their supply chain needs,” said Mike Chivini, Executive Vice President of Development for The Pizzuti Companies. “We look forward to providing such a solution to our client.”

Once constructed, the Crate and Barrel facility will accommodate 175-200 employees with up to 400 seasonal employees. The construction is currently underway with the building expected to be delivered in September 2020 and operational in March 2021.
