A concept plan was reviewed by the Romeoville Village Board for a Kiddie Academy childcare center on the open parcel of land directly south of Jiffy Lube along Airport Road. The proposed building will be 10,030 square feet and would have capacity for 159 children. Playground areas will be located to the rear of the building and, along with the walkways leading to them, will be fenced off with a decorative black aluminum fence. The building will be a mixture of masonry, stone, and siding. The site will also include decorative lighting to match the rest of the development.
In other development news, the land needed for the 66,259 square foot Hampton Manor senior housing development on the southwest corner of Airport and Budler was annexed into the village. It will have sections for both regular assisted living and memory care, which would be in a separate wing. The facility would have approximately 81 units, with 26 being for memory care. Some of the proposed amenities include public and private dining rooms, a library, a salon and spa, a theater, and several outdoor courtyards and patios.
“These two developments, both along the Airport Road, represent the generational diversity we have in town,” said Mayor Noak. “We are excited to have new service providers for youth and seniors in our community.”
Forgoing any major delays, Kiddie Academy should begin construction early this fall and be complete in spring 2024. Hampton Manor should begin construction this summer for a summer 2024 completion.
