PHILOSOPHY AND OBJECTIVES
The Athletic Philosophy of the Romeoville Recreation Department is to provide an environment of positive reinforcement through a controlled learning experience.

This can best be accomplished by our coaches combining the following: instruction of the fundamentals; insuring participation for all; teaching social and leadership skills; stressing the importance of team work; and establishing a competitive yet fun atmosphere.

The Romeoville Recreation Department Youth Sport objectives:
  1. To help young people develop physically by learning individual sporting skills and improving their physical conditioning.
  2. To help young people mature emotionally by developing self-confidence, self-control, and self-discipline. To teach responsibility, commitment, and a sense of leadership.
  3. To help young people grow socially, by learning to cooperate in a competitive context, by learning sportsmanship and by developing friendships with both young people and adults.
  4. To provide young people with the opportunity to have safe supervised fun!

ADULTS
Adult softball leagues are played April through July – Men's A, Men's B, and Co-Ed leagues are offered. Standings and schedules are now posted on www. teamsideline.com.

REVOLUTION (GIRL'S SOFTBALL)
The Revolution Softball program is a volunteer organization whose main purpose is to develop the skills of girls ages 8 to 18. The goal of the organization is to provide the girls of Romeoville and surrounding communities with a competitive experience while maintaining the fun of playing a sport they love. We believe that through teaching the fundamental aspects of softball, the girls can develop to their highest potential. Some girls may want to play recreational softball while others may want to play at a higher competitive level.

Romeoville Revolution Softball provides these opportunities through two divisions. The in-house division is designed to provide those girls who want to play competitive recreational softball a chance to develop their softball skills without the stress of heavy competition. Teams usually travel to local communities to play two to five games per week from May through July. Fundraising will be required for this division.

The tournament division is designed for those girls with more advanced softball skills. This division typically plays five to seven games per weekend at tournaments throughout the state. The ultimate goal of this division is to earn a bid to a National World Series. Fundraising and acquiring sponsorships are typically mandatory for the tournament division.

The Romeoville Revolution Softball organization stresses sportsmanship, skill development and fun. The program has something for any girl who wants to enjoy the sport of softball.

T-BALL
T-ball is offered for children ages 4 to 6 in two different leagues to take into account their varying skill level.

Little Tee’s Instructional T-ball is for first time players ages 4 to 5. This program is totally instructional; players hit off a tee for most of the ten-game season and gradually move to a coach pitch format during the last three games of the year. Scores and standings will not be kept.

The Little Ball program is for returning players and emphasizes the fundamentals of baseball and coach pitch. Teams play a ten- to twelve-game season. Players start with a tee to develop timing and as the season progresses, they move to a coach pitch, three-out format. This program is geared to prepare your player for the next level of baseball.

Volunteer coaches are always needed to run a successful program. If you are interested in participating in any t-ball program as a head coach or assistant coach, please contact the Recreation Department at (815) 886-6222.

T-Ball sign up is offered in the winter brochure beginning in December. Games are played in the spring, generally March through June. Practices start in April. For more information contact the recreation department.

COMMUNITY BASKETBALL
Community Basketball is for children in grades K through 8. This program emphasizes developing a team concept for the kids and socializing with their peers.

Registration begins in the fall, with the season running October through March. Practice and game times vary throughout the week.

The Community Basketball program needs volunteer coaches at all levels for this program to be successful. For more information on becoming a volunteer coach for the upcoming season please contact the Recreation Department at (815) 886-6222.

Community Basketball scores are listed on www. teamsideline.com.once the season starts.
