Romeoville Recreation Department

Mission Statement:

The Romeoville Recreation Department exists to improve the quality of life of the community by ensuring a variety of leisure time activities. This will be accomplished through integrity, honesty, dedication, expertise, and the vision of each employee.

Spring 2010
Dear Romeoville Residents,
Thank you to all of the volunteers and staff that helped make Winter Wonderland and the 2009 Tree Lighting Ceremony so successful. Children and their parents enjoyed a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities including the arrival of Santa on a fire engine.

The 32nd Annual Open House will be hosted by the Recreation Department on Sunday, March 14th from 12:00pm to 3:00pm. This event will feature class demonstrations, registration for spring programs, and information booths from community organizations. Visit the Fit-4-Life Fitness Center and the Jungle Safari Indoor Playground free of charge during the Open House. Inflatables, giveaways and raffles are all a part of this exciting event.

On Saturday, March 27th, Mr. and Mrs. Bunny will be stopping by the Recreation Center between 9:00am and 11:00am for breakfast and they invite you to join them. Children can also have their pictures taken with the bunny, play in the inflatables, and join in the Egg Hunt after breakfast.

The 6th Annual Springtide Craft Show will take place on Saturday, April 17th between 9:00am and 3:00pm. This is one of our more popular events, so mark your calendars now for a morning or afternoon of shopping at our craft show.

The Village of Romeoville applied for an OSLAD grant for the final phases of Boucher Prairie Park and just learned from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources that we have received the grant funds! Amenities for this final phase will include: an additional one-third mile loop to complete the half mile walking trail, a lighted shelter near the existing playground, a half court basketball court, a practice baseball field with a backstop, fitness stations, an in-line hockey court, a splash pad with a cosmic theme, and a boardwalk and wetland overlook with interpretative signage and native plantings. Landscaping, berms, shade and ornamental plantings will be planted throughout the park site. The site also has a twenty-two stall parking lot included in the master plan. Mather Park Phase II construction is underway. When this phase of the park is completed, amenities will include a Four Seasons Garden as well as additional trails. Completion of this project is expected in 2010 when planting can take place. Construction began on Nottingham Ridge Park in the fall of 2009. This park, which is located in the Nottingham Ridge subdivision, will include playground equipment, a climbing boulder, shelter, pathways and landscaping. Due to the topography of the park site, which is located on terrain that is inclined, the park will be built on three connecting levels that will bring interest to the park area.

Look for new and exciting programs being offered for the spring session including: new theater and drama classes, Gymnastics Open Gym, Spring Break Camp, new kids craft classes, Chicago White Sox Trip for teens, Zumba, and a variety of new adult trips.
