JuneSpend an evening with your neighbors, family, friends, and the Romeoville Recreation Department at one or all four of these Neighborhood Park Watches! Entertainment is free and includes a DJ, inflatables, face painting, games, and more! Refreshments will be provided. Festivities run 6:00-8:00pm.

The Village of Romeoville, Showcase Classics, Kin-Ko Ace Hardware, and Harris Bank invite you to the seventh annual Downtown Redevelopment Car Show! This event will be held in Downtown Romeoville, Townhall Drive and Phelps Avenue (Route 53 and Normantown Road), on Sunday, June 14, 2009! Whether you have a car to enter or just want to enjoy the cars as a spectator, you’ll have a great time. Showcase Classics will be presenting the car show between 9:00am and 4:00pm which will showcase classic, custom, antique, and muscle cars. Concessions will be available and entertainment includes Micro-Reality Stock Car Racing, Big Wheel and Matchbox Derby Races, music, and inflatables provided by Party Hoppers. Bring your entire family out for this fun and exciting event! Route 66 Cruise-in NightsThe Romeoville Recreation Department has teamed up with Fat Ricky’s Old World Restaurant to bring you a nostalgic downtown event on Wednesday, June 24th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. This event will feature classic cars, great food and lots of fun! Join us in Downtown Romeoville, Route 53 and Phelps Road, this summer for these fun-filled Cruise-In Nights featuring: Classic Car Show, Food and beverages, Music, Entertainment, Raffles, prizes and more! JulyCelebrate the 4th of July with the Village of Romeoville on Friday, July 3, 2009! Kick off the day with free hotdogs and chips from 4:30-6:30pm (while supplies last). There will be a DJ, inflatables, and concessions from 4:30-9:15pm. The fireworks begin at 9:15pm. All activities will be held at Village Park, 900 W. Romeo Road. Photo OpRepresent your town, Romeoville residents, in this free photo op on Tuesday, July 7, 2009! We’re looking for photogenic, active people to participate – adults and kids age 3 and up are welcome! If you’re interested in being a model resident, then sign up to get your picture taken. Pictures will be used in brochures, trifolds, posters, videos, and everything else representing Romeoville. Adults and children will play on the playground with minimal guidance from a photographer. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Sorry, no pets allowed. Participants may attend the Photo Op any time between 3:00 and 5:00pm. A participation waiver must be signed prior to being photographed. Park location will be chosen closer to the event date. Circus HoorayThe Romeoville Recreation Department and Lockport Township Park District present Circus Hooray on Friday, July 10, 2009 from 6:30 to 9:00pm! Jump inside the ring for some spectacular activities! Forms in Motion will be performing an aerial act show and hosting exploration stations where you can learn some circus activities. Be sure to catch the juggling performance by Learn to Fly. Are you ready to see some really unique animals? Settlers Pond Shelter will also be there with a petting zoo with animals such as kangaroos, wallabies, a baby camel, armadillo, Patagonian Cavy, and Kinkajou’s. Check out the animals at www.settlerspondshelter.net. Other activities include face painting, balloon twisting, stilt walker, camel rides, snake charmer, and organ grinder. The sky is the limit with the eurobungy – don’t miss your chance to fly high on these trampolines! Immediately following Circus Hooray will be Movie under the Stars. Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa will begin at 9:00pm or dusk. Concessions will be available for purchase. All activities are held at Volunteer Park, 100 W. Murphy Drive in Romeoville. Movie under the StarsBring your blanket and enjoy Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa on a 35-foot screen at the Romeoville Recreation Department’s Volunteer Park, 1100 W. Murphy Drive. Admission is free and concessions will be available. This movie is held in conjunction with Circus Hooray on Friday, July 10, 2009. The movie will begin at 9:00pm or dusk. AugustJoin the Village of Romeoville for RomeoFest – four days of carnival rides, games, entertainment, live music, food, and fun! RomeoFest 2009 will be held on the Recreation Department’s grounds (Village Park, 900 W. Romeo Rd.) Thursday, August 6th through Sunday, August 9th. Thursday and Friday the fest opens at 5:00pm; Saturday and Sunday activities begin at 12:00pm. Activities include live music from various bands, sports tournaments, and children’s activities, entertainment and games. Local food vendors will also be selling food, and the beverage garden will be open daily. There will be two fireworks shows during the fest, one on Friday night and one on Sunday night. We appreciate your interest in playing on the main stage at RomeoFest; however, at this time all of our main stage entertainment is currently booked. We are seeking Battle of the Band participants, though. Battle of the Bands will be held on Saturday, August 8th from 12:00-4:00pm. Also, food and non-food vendor packets will be available in early May. Please contact Marissa Hill for more information.

Originally set for Thursday, July 16th, this event has been changed to Thursday, August 13th.

SeptemberCome Celebrate our Community Day of Play! Join us on Saturday, September 12, 2009 from 9:30am to 11:30am at Four Seasons Park where activities will include playground games, inflatable obstacle course, Nature Scavenger Hunt and much more. This event is a joint celebration of play with the Romeoville Recreation Department and the Plainfield Park District.
Autumn Colors Craft ShowThe third annual fall craft show will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2009 from 9:00am to 3:00pm and features a variety of talented crafters offering many different items for sale. There is no entrance fee for the public to shop the craft show. Crafters interested in participating in the craft show may pick up a contract closer to the event date. Founder’s Day ParadeWhether you are watching or participating, you are sure to have a great time at Romeoville’s annual Founder’s Day Parade on Sunday, September 20 at 2:00pm! The parade theme and entry applications will be available closer to event date. Community organizations, clubs, and businesses are all encouraged to participate. Awards will be given out for the following categories: non-professional float, most decorated vehicle, antique vehicle, Mayor’s award, theme award, and judge’s award. OctoberThe annual fun-for-all-ages Halloween Fest will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2009 from 11:00am to 2:00pm. All activities are free and will be held outdoors at Romeoville’s Village Park so please dress for the weather. More information will be made available closer to the event date. NovemberVeterans Day
