Animal Control Division

Animal Bites
All bites, scratches, or other injury to any person by any dog or cat that causes an abrasion or breaking of human skin must be reported to the Police Department.

Lost or Stray Animals
Residents should immediately contact Romeoville Animal Control at 815/886-1018 or 815/886-7219 if you see a lost or stray animal. Do not attempt to capture any animals yourself.

Any pet found roaming the streets will be impounded and the owners will be charged a pickup fee of $25.00 and an additional boarding fee of $10.00 per day.

Missing Pets
The Village of Romeoville will help you find your missing pet by posting its picture, along with other related information, on this Webpage. Simply e-mail the Police Department a picture of your missing pet along with pertinent information such as the pet’s physical characteristics (name and breed), and your name, address, and phone number. NOTE: All pictures received become the property of the Village of Romeoville and will not be returned.

Pet Licensing
All dogs and cats, 6 months or older, are required by the State of Illinois to have a rabies tag. The rabies certificate must be presented to Village Hall when applying for a dog or cat tag from the Village. The expiration date for every license is July 1st of each year. The Village charges $4.00 for each animal tag. Senior citizens may purchase one (1) tag per household at the reduced rate of $2.00.

Romeoville Adopt-A-Pet Program
Animals being housed by the Village of Romeoville Animal Control Department are available for adoption 7 days after the animal’s arrival at the Animal Control Kennel. A hold may be placed on an animal until it is available for adoption. This will ensure that the animal will be reserved for the person placing the hold on it in the event that the animal’s owner does not reclaim it. All holds expire 24 hours after the animal becomes available for adoption. Please Note: The Village of Romeoville does not know the veterinary care history of any of the animals up for adoption. There is no adoption fee. Adopted animals must be spayed or neutered. Any person interested in adopting a pet should call the Kennel at 815/886-1018.
