Village of Romeoville Service Changes

To protect the health and safety of our staff and residents, the following services are being adjusted until further notice:

POLICE

The Romeoville Police Department has implemented additional health and safety precautions to help protect our residents and employees from the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). The Police Department will remain ready to respond to any call for service and maintain the same level of quality services, although there have been some changes to how these services will be provided.

  • In case of an emergency continue to call 9-1-1.
  • The Police Department lobby is closed to all non-emergency services.  An employee will be available to open the entrance if required by dialing (815) 886-7219.
  • For any non-emergency services call dispatch at (815) 886-2141.  Callers may be required to answer several questions to add to the safety of responding Officers and the safety of the public.   Examples are as follows:
    • Is anyone in your household sick with a fever, cough, sneezing, shortness of breath or showing symptoms of illness?
    • Has anyone been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the household or been in close proximity to anyone showing symptoms of COVID-19?
    • Is there anyone currently at your residence in quarantine?
  • Low priority calls involving non-emergencies, delayed calls for service, informational calls, property crimes, misdemeanor thefts, identity thefts, and frauds will only be handled via a phone-in report process.  A police officer will call you back and generate a police report over the telephone.
  • Officers will still respond to take photos and recover evidence when necessary.
  • When responding to a residence, officers may request individuals to step outside of the home to speak with them and will request to keep a minimum of a six-foot social distance.

The Romeoville Police Department would like to assure you that the safety of our residents, community, and employee’s is most important.  These changes are temporary and are implemented only for the safety of the community and employees.
