Following Governor Pritzker’s statewide “stay at home” order all Playgrounds, courts and sports fields and other areas where group activities/sports typically occur will be closed from Saturday, March 21, through April 7 or until Governor Pritzker has lifted the “stay at home order.”  


The Romeoville Parks and Recreation Department offers a multitude of events, recreational programs, and community services for residents and visitors to enjoy with the mission of improving the quality of life for all community members. From concerts to carnivals, the Recreation Department hosts over thirty special events for all ages and interests including the Village’s annual festival, RomeoFest. The Recreation Department also offers hundreds of athletic and special interest recreational programs for all age groups as well a variety of community services to better serve residents and visitors. 

Since its establishment in 1965 the Romeoville Parks and Recreation Department has continued to evolve alongside its residents. Beginning in a basement office of the Village Hall, and eventually moving into the newly built Romeoville Recreation Center in 1978 the department has continued to grow with the community. In 2001, the Recreation Center fulfilled additions and renovations and reopened as it stands today.

Rec Changes

The Village of Romeoville is committed to protecting the health and safety of our residents and staff. Due to COVID-19, the Recreation Center building and Fit 4 Life Fitness Center is closed through April 7, 2020. All programs, events, classes, and rentals have been cancelled through May 1, 2020. Creative Play Preschool, Tiger Club, and Butterfly Club are cancelled through April 5, 2020 and will be reevaluated based on state guidelines.

Refunds for payments of classes, programs, and events will be processed and mailed to the address on file. All Fit 4 Life Fitness memberships are all on hold and will not be charged, prorated, or refunded until an official reopening date has been determined. Anyone with a rental during this period will be contacted to reschedule for a different date (if available) or receive a full refund.
