All freedom of information requests can be made through our FOIA portal by clicking here.
This includes requests pertaining to Police Reports, Fire Reports, Zoning Letters, Permit Information, Property Information, etc. If you are PURCHASING A PROPERTY, please visit our Real Estate Transfer Tax Guidelines page here to obtain a clearance letter.

 The Village of Romeoville must comply with or deny a request for records within 5 business days.

The Village of Romeoville is not required to allow inspection and copying of any records falling within any of the exemptions noted in Section 7 of the Freedom of Information Act.

The Illinois Freedom of Information Act allows for the imposing of fees for the copying of requests for public records. The fees are as follows: the first 50 black and white copies are free of charge with each additional copy after 50 pages being $0.15 a page. For color copies, abnormally sized copies or copies on other media, the Village may charge a fee equal to the actual cost of these copies.

Transparency

The Village of Romeoville operates as an incorporated Village as set forth in the Illinois Revised Statutes, and as a general purpose unit of local government as provided for in the Constitution of the State of Illinois. 

The underlying purpose of any local government body is to assure the health, safety and welfare of its residents. 

The Village averages 253 full-time employees and 424 part-time and seasonal employees, depending on the season and varying requirements to provide services.
