White Oak Library presents Getting Comfortable with the Uncomfortable: Talking about Racism

Let’s do the work! Come explore, examine and interrupt biases and barriers to being more inclusive. Share concerns and ask questions. We’ll talk about microaggressions, real-life scenarios, solutions, and what to do when we mess up.

Facilitated by Katie Slivovsky. From 2007-2020 Katie Slivovsky was Exhibit Development Director at Chicago Children’s Museum where she founded the museum’s LGBTQ Access & Inclusion initiative. She facilitates inclusive workshops at museums, schools and libraries around the country. Katie co-founded FAIR (Freethinking Abolitionists Interpreting racism and has written about inclusion for the Alliance for Early Childhood and the American Association of Museums.
