[ARCHIVED] Romeoville Receives $200,000 Grant for Wastewater Treatment Facility Upgrades

IL EPA NF

The Village of Romeoville has received an Illinois Environmental Wastewater Treatment Plant Energy Efficiency Grant in the amount of $200,000. The competitive grant was administered through the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), who prioritized, ranked, and selected the recipients based upon multiple factors, including energy savings. The wastewater treatment facility recently underwent an energy efficiency assessment, resulting in a recommendation for improvements like the replacement of outdated equipment. Because of this, the facility was eligible for grant funding through the U.S. Department of Energy State Energy Program.

“This grant provides a fantastic opportunity for us to upgrade our infrastructure,” stated Mayor John Noak. “We would like to thank the Illinois EPA and the U.S. Department of Energy for the recognition and funding.”

In addition, the facility will receive an incentive through the ComEd Energy Efficiency Program.  The incentive amount will be based on the actual energy reduction achieved and is anticipated to be in the neighborhood of $200,000, making the total value of this grant around $400,000.
