[ARCHIVED] Romeoville Breaks Ground on Dog Park

Groundbreaking Dog Park

Mayor Noak and village representatives broke ground today on the first phase of a dog park to be constructed in the open space along 135th Street, across from the post office. Elements of the design include an entry drive, 36 parking stalls, and the dog park area itself. Additionally, there will be walkways, a shelter, furniture, fencing, and lighting.

“State Representative Natalie Manley was instrumental in securing a $300,000 grant for this project, so we owe a big thank you to her,” said Mayor John Noak. “A dog park has been one of the most requested amenities and we are pleased to be fulfilling that.”

“Assisting the mayor and village trustees to make this project a reality has been a pleasure,” stated Representative Manley. “This new park enhances the warm and family-friendly atmosphere of Romeoville.”

The park will be split into two sections: a 4.8 acre area for large dogs and a 2.8 acre are for small dogs. Each section will include an agility course. This is just the first phase of the project. Long term, practice fields will be added as well. The land for this project and corresponding open space/athletic fields was acquired in May of 2020.
