RE Journals 2023

The Village of Romeoville has been named a finalist in five different categories for the 2023 Illinois Real Estate Journal Awards, which recognizes excellence in development. The five categories and projects they are finalists for are…

This is the third year in a row that Romeoville has been a finalist for Municipality of the Year and 2022 was another record year of development and construction activity in Romeoville. Almost 3 million square feet of new construction started. $259 million dollars of value was added to the village with construction projects. The Village collected over $5 million dollars in permit fees that will be used to fund many Village initiatives and improvements. Also, many significant projects were completed and 49 new businesses and 1,667 jobs were added.

Scene75, an indoor family amusement center at 460 S. Weber Road, purchased a vacant Sam’s Club building and built out the 135,000 square foot space. They came in with a unique idea (a mixture of arcade and amusement park rides) and were able to utilize the space in an innovative and transformative way.

The Clean Energy fueling station is located along Southcreek Parkway and uses renewable natural gas to fuel vehicles. Currently used to refuel Amazon’s fleet of trucks, renewable natural gas is cleaner burning than gasoline and also runs quieter.

The Seasons of Romeoville is a 240 unit development south of Airport and Weber with premiere features like a pool, dog park, fitness area, and 4,300 square foot clubhouse. The apartments, which added roughly 500 people to Romeoville’s population, were fully leased before construction finished.

RJW, a growing and leading provider of retail logistics solutions, now operates five facilities in Romeoville and leased their latest in Q4 of 2022. It was one of the area’s largest lease transactions in 2022.

“There are a lot of great things happening in Romeoville,” said Mayor John Noak. “We are grateful to be recognized for these development efforts and plan to continue delivering great projects to our community.”

The winners of each category will be announced at a ceremony on June 1.
