Joliet Junior College Romeoville Campus 30th Anniversary Open House/Halloween Trick-or-Treating
Tuesday, October 24, 2023
4:30-6:30 p.m.
Joliet Junior College, Romeoville Campus, 1125 W. Romeo Rd.
Joliet Junior College Romeoville Campus will be celebrating their 30th anniversary with an open house event. It will showcase a number of academic program offerings and student development services. Because the event is in such close proximity to Halloween, they've decided to incorporate trick-or-treating into the event. The first 300 children to arrive will receive JJC Halloween trick-or-treat bags. Visitors can meet with JJC staff and faculty in classrooms and in other campus spaces as "stops" on their trick-or-treating self-guided tour; each of these stops will provide an opportunity for guests to learn about services as well as pick up candy and other swag. Dr. Namuo, Mayor Noak, and Dr. Stephanie McIntyre-Braun will provide opening remarks. The JJC Jazz Band will perform, there will be a tote painting activity for Meals on Wheels, photos with JJC mascot Wiley Wolf, and a raffle to win free JJC courses, JJC swag, and more! This event is free of charge.

Catapult a Pumpkin 2023 - Shred Documents & Recycle Electronics
Saturday, November 4, 2023
9:00 a.m. - Noon
Lewis University, 1 University Pkwy. - Parking Lot South of the main entrance
Lewis University volunteered to partner with Will County because Lewis already collects food scraps on their campus and sends them for composting. Like Will County, the University wants to encourage more residents, businesses and schools to start composting. The Will County Farm Bureau and the Unv of IL Extension Office are once again joining the effort to offer residents a chance to give their Jack-O-Lanterns a second life through composting! Lewis physics students are offering a safe, no-contacct table near their CATAPULT for chidten and adults to place their pumkins and guords. People are invited to enjoy the fun and thrilling spectacle! A drive-thru document destruction service will also be offered to pair the shredding of paper with the shredding of pumpkins! Limit of 3 bank boxes per vehicle. Electronics recycling is also offered. Limit 2 TVs per vehicle. Everyone is invited to bring their carved or painted pumpkins to Lewis University's "W" parking lot on Saturday, Nov. 4 (the Saturday after Halloween) from 9am to Noon! Naked Pumpkins Only! No candles, bags or boxes! This is a chance for a decorative natural item to be recycled, as all the pumpkins collected will be taken to a site to be mixed and composted. Eventually they will become a highly nutritious soil supplement, feeding future crops, gardens - or perhaps a new pumpkin patch! Be part of the fun and bring your family or friends to see who's pumpkin flies the highest!
