The Romeoville Fire Academy, with cooperation from OAI, Inc., has the opportunity to provide grant funded training to firefighters from rural or under served communities. This will extend to courses taught at the Romeoville facility as well as the academy’s satellite campus in Dwight, IL. The grant itself offsets some of the cost for the instructor to teach these courses.
“We’re tremendously proud of our Fire Academy and this grant will allow them to do even more good when it comes to getting emergency personnel trained properly,” stated Romeoville Mayor John Noak.
The Romeoville Fire Academy delivers over 150 courses per year to 2,500 students representing over 200 different agencies. Academy courses cover 35 different topics including basic CPR, emergency medicine, basic and advanced firefighting courses, technical rescue training, and much more. Academy classes are delivered in state of the art facilities by experienced and competent instructors.
