[ARCHIVED] Romeoville Police Department to Purchase Training Simulator

Police Simulator Newsflash

The Romeoville Police Department, using State Money Laundering Forfeiture funds, will purchase a virtual firearms training simulator. The simulator will allow officers to put themselves in the middle of interactive situations through the use of video screens and sensors. The training guns they will use will be filled with CO2, which will replicate the kickback of a discharged weapon, increasing the realism.

“As technology improves, it provides better and better training opportunities for our officers,” explained Mayor John Noak. “We feel this simulator will give the department a huge boost.”

The system comes with over 500 training scenarios and updates, free of charge, for the life of the system. It can be setup in a conference or classroom and is easily portable. That’s a lot of convenience for such an important tool.
