The Village was notified by the Exchange Club of Naperville that Romeoville is their top choice for the new location of Ribfest starting in 2020. “We are honored that they have chosen Romeoville for this premier summer event,” said Romeoville Mayor John Noak. Noak added, “Ribfest has been providing quality entertainment while raising funds to help those traumatized by child abuse and domestic violence for three decades.”
Romeoville will begin discussions with the Exchange Club on the agreement and the details for the event. “We need to make sure that, first and foremost, this is a good fit for our community and their organization. There are still topics to negotiate in order make sure that the concerns of the residents are addressed during this final process,” said Noak.
Romeoville officials plan to meet with various stakeholders regarding the event. The Village is hopeful in reaching an agreement with the Exchange Club and will work together to support the mission to fund local and regional non-profit agencies. Ribfest is run by the Exchange Club of Naperville, with key resources contracted out such as the layout which is coordinated with a professional event management company that has great experience in large events throughout the country.
Officials pointed out that Ribfest will not be a replacement for Romeofest. The Village still plans on having a local festival later in the season.
