In recognition of National Library Week (April 7-13), we are announcing the 2024 Romeoville Holiday Ornament: a library book celebrating the Romeoville branch of the White Oak Library District! This particular book details the history of Romeoville’s library, from the initial resident survey in 1967 to the major renovations that were completed in 2012. A striking twilight photo of the main entrance graces the cover and, just like any book, it opens and closes (courtesy of two hinges). The book is made of brass, finished in 24 karat gold, and measures 2.25” high by 2.875” long (3.75” when open). It comes in a green box with black lining and the Romeoville logo stamped in gold on the lid.
“Libraries are tremendous resources for every community,” said Mayor Noak. “From the materials patrons can check out to the events they host and the equipment they have available for use, we should be thankful for the excellence of our branch. The Romeoville library has been serving our community for over 50 years and it is very appropriate they be honored with an ornament.”
“I am so very excited that the library was chosen for the 2024 ornament,” said White Oak Library District Director Scott Pointon. “We are proud to be a part of the Romeoville community and treasure this partnership with the Village.”
The ornaments were once again made in America by Beacon Design, the same company who has handled the official White House ornaments since 1981. Ornaments will be available for purchase ($15) in person at Village Hall and the Recreation Center starting April 29 until sold out. They are not available online. There will also be a very limited number for sale at the library itself (201 Normantown Road).
This book is the third ornament in the ongoing series. The previous installments (Village Hall and Romeoville’s first fire truck) are both sold out and will not be re-ordered.
