When making repairs to your home caused by storm damage, please make sure that your contractor is licensed and bonded with the Village and also obtains a permit prior to starting any type of work or placing any signs in your yard. This will help protect your investment by ensuring that the work meets all safety and building codes.
All Contractors must be registered with the Village of Romeoville and you should ask for proof of Village registration or contact the Building Department at (815) 886-7200.
The Village requires contractors to be licensed, and to have the proper insurance and workman’s compensation. This lowers the incidents of homeowners being sued for injuries during construction and assists in completion of the project if the contractor fails to meet building code.
Please ensure that inspections are requested for siding and roofing projects so the Village Inspectors can verify that the required vapor barriers and over hang drip edge have been placed under the roofing or siding materials. Please refer to the permit application for code requirements.
To insure that your project is completed in a timely fashion and not stopped due to lack of a permit, it is important that the contractor be issued the permit before starting work on your home.
