On May 23, the village will debut the Romeoville Open Air Market (ROAM) in front of the Edward Hospital Athletic & Event Center. The outdoor marketplace will operate from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. every Wednesday (except July 4th) during the summer. The last day will be September 12. The sixteen-week schedule should give everyone in the community an opportunity to come out and do a little shopping in the warm weather.
“Farmers markets have become wildly popular,” pointed out Mayor John Noak, “so we decided to create our own version and open it up to non-food vendors as well.”
What will one be able to find at ROAM? That’s completely up to the community. Applications are now being accepted for vendors, so be sure your favorite business gets their submission in. Applications can be downloaded here and will be accepted through May 4th. The 10 foot by 17 foot spaces equate to one parking stall. Electrical access is available.
ROAM will be held in Uptown Square, which is considered Romeoville’s “downtown” area. Uptown Square, which already features the previously mentioned Athletic Center, plays host to car shows in the summer and contains the newly constructed buildings housing Fat Ricky’s, Franconi’s Italian Grocer, Romeoville Dental, Subway, Mity Nails, T-Mobile, and BMO Harris Bank.
