gain a working knowledge of the police dept.

The Romeoville Police Department sponsors two Citizen Police Academy classes per year, one class in the Spring and one class in the Fall. Each class runs 12 weeks and is held at the Police Department one night per week. The Citizens Police Academy classes instruct attendees on various law enforcement topics including criminal law, traffic stops and enforcement and many other areas. This program will allow participants to get to know the members of the Police Department better, and that through this personal contact, better understand how and why officers make the decisions they do.

While not a certification course, the Citizens Police Academy class gives students a basic understanding of current police practices in a wide range of areas. Applications will also be available online 4 to 6 weeks prior to application deadline. Complete application online, print out and return to the Police Department by the specified deadline.
